TURFTrade-off Platform · TURF over MaxDiff

TURF — which set to build, not which item won.

The ranking cannot answer the portfolio question. TURF counts every person once, however many of their favourites sit in the set. You set the size, what “reached” means, lock or exclude items, and read the ladder — what each added item is worth.

Three to seven items. Search for the combination that reaches the most people at the size and threshold you set — the set and the ladder recompute live.

What TURF does

A set, not a leaderboard.

Five strong items that all appeal to the same people are a weak portfolio. TURF is the stage that finds that out — on the same MaxDiff study, after Analysis.

  1. 01

Reach, not a pile of winners

How many people have at least one chosen item in the set. One person, one count — even if three of their favourites made the cut.

  2. 02

    What each item adds

The ladder is the decision. The second item may add a lot; the fifth may add almost nothing. That is whether you build three or five.

  3. 03

    Size, threshold, lock, segment

Three to seven items. Top 1, 3 or 5. Lock an item in, exclude another, cut by any group in the file. Everything recomputes as you click.

What TURF does not claim

Reach at a threshold you chose. Not an official “must have.” The top-3 rule is a choice you should say out loud, not a fact in the data.

Download the set and the ladder, or keep the study in Crowdmines and try the next size. Analysis stays attached — you do not re-estimate to try a different portfolio.

What you open it from

A finished MaxDiff Analysis on this study. TURF stays locked until the scores exist. If Analysis said the run did not settle, treat the portfolio as provisional too.

Use it when you hear

  • “The top five all look strong. Which set reaches the most people?”
  • “Should we build three items or five?”
  • “What does this portfolio look like in the younger segment?”

Give them the set, not the top five.

Unduplicated reach, a ladder you can defend, and a portfolio you can change without re-running Analysis.
